Origin of Clase Azul Tequila

Clase Azul luxury tequila brand is made from 100% organic Blue Agave in Jalisco, Mexico, with close attention paid to every production process to achieve the highest quality products. The characteristic climate and land properties of Jalisco are determinate of the tequila flavor.

Clase Azul tequila is crafted with time and care to produce the best quality. Master distiller Arturo Lomeli blends innovation with the time-honored tradition to produce the superior tequila after a nine-year wait.

The agave is harvested at its peak of maturity at nine years when the plant is rich in flavor.

How is Clase Azul Created?

This product encapsulates the “Buena Vibra” of Mexican culture in its unique and popular handmade tequila bottles. The brand’s vision revolves around passion and happiness and invites you to enjoy the ordinary flavor, art, and culture.

It is created using only 100% organic Tequilana Weber Blue Agaves – and this is the only agave out of 200 varieties that produces tequila. Once harvested, the agave is cooked in old-fashioned brick ovens for 72 hours.

The Oven

The organic agave is cooked with steam in old masonry ovens for about 72 hours. The baking process gives it a unique sweetness, easily perceived by the complexity of flavors and aroma.

Fermentation

Once cooked and the agave has achieved a deep rich flavor, a yeast stain ferments the juice. This process adds a richer complexity to tequila.

Distillation

Distillation is done after fermentation. This is carried out twice or three times to achieve the most incredible smoothness.

The Decanter Process

The magic of Clase Azul is not limited to the quality of its tequila.

Every single beautiful ceramic Clase Azul Tequila decanter is handmade and hand-painted by communities of Mexican artisans in the Talavera style.

The decanters are made of ceramic and represent the millenary and ancestors’ legacy. Before painting, it is sculpted using the Mazahua people’s ancient techniques.

Why is Clase Azul Tequila So Special?

Clase Azul Tequila

The Process

It is a unique brand that bills itself as high-quality tequila, which comes in a beautiful, special decanter bottle. The Tequila Clase Azul Resposado has zero burns, is smooth, and tastes like cream soda, but even more sugary. It is more balanced than Blanco and is sweet, with a soft finished taste. It is argued that the blue agave that matures after nine years is the reason behind the sweet taste of Clase Azul Reposado Tequila.

It is slow-cooked for 72 hours in traditional masonry ovens, followed by shredder/roller milling. They then use priority yeasts in fermentation, which is possible for more of the sweetness.

The combination of the softer barrels, very ripe highland agaves, their special/secret yeasts, and the triple filtering could very well play a big part in why it is so sweet and smooth with no burn.

Handmade Bottles

It is 100% authentic, from tequila to the handmade bottles handcrafted one at a time in a small town named Santa Maria Canchesda by over one hundred Mexican artisans. In all of its diverse expressions, the Clase bottle comes from uniting different artisanal talents into one single piece.

Each bottle touched by the human spirit and inspired by traditional Mexican values has been the evolution of various hands, processes, and a combination of distinct feelings, all of which have succeeded in providing the tequila consumer with an additional level of experience.

Types Of Clase Azul Tequila

Clase Azul Plata

1. Clase Azul Plata

This is made with naturally filtered water. The juice is filtered in a five-step process to deliver a crisp and clear Blanco tequila with a smooth finish. Clase Azul Plata is good for sipping and delicious in cocktails.

Clase Azul Reposado

2. Clase Azul Reposado

Clase Azul Reposado is a Mexican symbol of culture and tradition. It is by far the most popular tequila they make. The premium reposado tequila is made with a slow-cooked Blue Agave.

It is masterfully aged in oak barrels for no less than eight months in bourbon barrels, giving it an intense gold color and making it incredibly smooth. Reposado, therefore, has a soft and clean taste that carries some hints of vanilla and is the ideal sipping tequila. It is internationally recognized as one of the best reposados.

The traditional feathered paint design and the tequila’s original flavor combined with its distinctive cobalt blue color makes reposado an icon of the Clase Azul family.

Clase Azul Ultra

3. Clase Azul Ultra

This is an ultra-aged tequila and the crown jewel of the Clase Azul tequila line with limited production. It is a highly revered extra-Anejo and is made and sold in small batches of 100 numbered bottles with a retail price of $2000 each.

If you want to get a sublime tequila experience, Clase Azul Ultra is the best offer. It is aged in sherry wood casks from Spain for five years, making it smooth and with a lush taste characteristic of the agave.

 Mezcal Clase Azul Durango

4. Mezcal Clase Azul Durango

Made from Cenizo Agave, Mezcal Clase Azul Durango is the epitome of beauty, character and distinction.

It's bright crystalline with silver sparkles and comes in a medium body. The flavor is that of peanut, honey, wood, brown sugar, chocolate, and ripe fruit.

It goes well with orange slice, chocolate, figs and aged cheese.

Clase Azul Gold Tequila

5. Clase Azul Gold Tequila

This is a delightful combination of spirits inspired by the sombre mood of dusk setting in. It comes in a shimmering glass decanter with a fused ceramic base. It's a unique joven blend featuring a combination of a special reposado tequila, Clase Azul Plata, and Extra Añejo that finishes aging in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks after passing through ex bourbon casks.

It is soft amber in color with golden sparkles and comes in a medium body. It tastes like toasted wood, ginger, dark chocolate, green olive or fig.

Clase Azul gold pairs well with seafood, or fish with high fat content, cooked with yellow lemon and butter.

Mezcal Clase Azul Guerrero

6. Mezcal Clase Azul Guerrero

Inspired by the singularity of Guerrero’s landscapes, art, heritage, gastronomy and the leadership of women, Clase Azul Guerrero portrays Mexican culture at its best. It comes from a rare variety of agave, the papalote agave.

It's full-bodied, crystal clear in color, with light straw-colored highlights. It tastes like fresh wood, lemon juice, seaweed, pepper or light notes of tobacco.

Accompany it with Serrano ham tapas, steamed fish taco or lemon cake.

Tequila Clase Azul Añejo

7. Tequila Clase Azul Añejo

The best things in life take time. This is just one of those things, alongside tequila's cousin, mezcal. Traced back to the Mazahua indigenous culture, it's wide aromatic range and intense amber color are as a result of spending 25 months in bourbon barrels.

It's amber in color, with copper reflections and a great body. It tastes like cloves, toasted oak with a silky sensation, orange marmalade, or nutmeg.

Take it with duck or pork alongside fruit reductions, earthy cheeses and chocolate desserts.

Sometimes Clase Azul gets negative reactions among the tequila and mezcal purists. What we have seen in Mexico though is that the Mexican people seek out Clase Azul and are very proud of what it has become.  It is not uncommon to see collections of these bottles at high-end bars and restaurants in Mexico.
